Hey guys!!
Since this blog is all about being courageous and stepping outside your comfort zone, I thought I would share with you some of the goals I have set for myself in the near future. I believe that goal setting is an important process, as it allows you to re-evaluate your current situation and decide on steps to better it. Goals are the main ingredient when it comes to success. Whether you wish to be successful in your chosen career, spiritually, mentally, physically etc. Below are some sure fire ways to stay motivated when it comes to goal setting and more importantly, taking the steps to become the best version of you! :)

Guidelines to achieving your goals:
- Goals must be realistic. This must be the most vital step when it comes to achieving your goals. It is only human nature to want to achieve success overnight. However unfortunately nothing is that easy... (sigh) if only it was hehe. I am not saying to not dream big or not go after what your heart desires. All I'm saying is to have goals that are attainable in a given time-frame. For example, one of my medium term goals is to pass my driving test by the end of 2014. For me, clocking up the 120 hours required to sit a driving test is very daunting. Whenever I have been behind the wheel of the car, my sweaty palms and white knuckles illustrate the intense fear of being in charge of huge potentially dangerous piece of metal... depending on my driving that is hahaha
- Make goals specific and list what one has to do to achieve them. By breaking down the goal and physically writing down the steps that are required to accomplish such a task, not only makes achieving your goals easier; but will also help to maintain motivation throughout the goal setting process. E.g. At least once a week I will continue to clock up my driving hours.
- Make sure you really want it. Goals require hard work, persistence and in some cases may take a lengthy period of time to accomplish. So my advice to you is to sit down and really evaluate your personal situation, allowing you to decide on goals that are worthwhile.
- See the goal. What I mean is to visualise yourself at the end of your journey. Everything from the feelings associated with accomplishing such a task to the smell of your surroundings. This may sound silly but if one is to utilise visualisation properly, every sense should be triggered. For example: If I were to set a goal to achieve a gold medal in swimming (which will never happen hahaha), then I must visualise myself on the podium, the smell of the chlorine, the weight of the gold medal in my hand etc. Also placing visual reminders around the house, at work and on your phone can also help with maintaining your interest.
- Lastly be flexible. Assess your progress regularly and make adjustments to the time-frame accordingly. AND just remember if you don't end up succeeding with your goal, it's not a big deal. As long as you have tried your best, that's all that matters. You have probably learned something throughout your journey anyway.
